Sidesaddle is a beautiful and elegant form of riding that has been
passed down through history. Dottie Linville learned the art of riding
aside from her great-grandmother. She has been riding and showing
aside since she was a young girl. Dottie is a certified instructor
and judge with the International Side Saddle Organization (ISSO).
and is available for lessons and judging of shows.
Training of horses for sidesaddle is available as well as sidesaddle
clinics for both horse and rider. Dottie hosts clinics at her ranch
and is also available as a travelling clinician. She has trained many
horses as well as young ladies the art aside riding. Although any
horse can be ridden aside, it does take proper tack and some getting
used to.
Dottie has shown her Arabians under sidesaddle at many local and
regional shows and always places very high. Most recently, she has
participated in the 2005 Equine Affaire Kentucky's Pfizer Fantasia.
She has also competed in a number of Class A Arabian shows under
sidesaddle in both saddleseat and western.
Although some shows have sidesaddle classes, it is important to note
that you can ride any discipline in a sidesaddle--from
saddleseat to dressage. All you need is the proper attire for your
discipline--just as in riding astride.
Dottie is also the founder of the Midwest Sidesaddle Association.
